USA Misters are indispensable in the heat – and doubly necessary if you are out in the heat working at something, like building a home, tending a garden or winning a trophy! You can constantly mist your body and use its natural cooling mechanism to keep you as fresh as a daisy. Some people worry that as the water warms up it is less effective and try different ways to keep their USA Mister water cool, so let’s explore what you can do.
Do you need to keep the water in a mister cool?
The first thing is – no, you don’t need to keep the water in a USA Mister cool for it to work effectively. It’s hard for your brain to understand that cooler water is better, but it’s not the temperature of the water that produces the cooling, but the action of the evaporation. Cooler water doesn’t make the action more effective, quite the opposite, and if the water is too cold it can provide a shock to the skin which can make it unpleasant.
If the water in your USA Mister is at ambient temperature – don’t stop misting! It’ll work anyway.
I want to keep the water in my USA Mister cool!
You can refrigerate your water before you fill your USA Mister, or you can fill it and refrigerate both. Keeping it in cooler with commercial ice blocks will help and keep the temperature of the water lower than the ambient temperature and create a more refreshing spray. Do not spray this on the face as the contrast can be very severe. If nature intended us to need cold water to cool our bodies, we would sweat ice cubes…
If you like a very cold spray on your USA Mister you can add ice – but we do not recommend it. The ice can damage the bottle and mechanical parts in the USA Mister. You will need to add ice that fits the neck of the bottle so a bottle ice cube tray would be best. These are ice cube trays in sticks rather than blocks and can usually be found at local stores and markets.
